My Story of Regaining Peace
How to find peace today
Read time: 2 mins
Hey my friend!
In the last couple of days, I was buried, not under the ground, but with worries and anxiety about my business and how to make money.
It was horrible. I had anxiety attacks.
My blood pressure was going up, and I felt hopeless.
I am telling you this not to have pity on myself but to describe how my last couple of days were.
If you’ve ever experienced this, you would understand how hard it is to see anything beyond your problems.
That’s what happened to me. I lost sight of most things, especially God
But He didn’t lose the sight of me.
Piercing Words
It was Wednesday evening of this week. Sydney, my wife, came from a Bible study back home.
I was sitting in my office and was ready to try to take my mind off the problems by playing a video game (but God had different plans for me that evening).
Sydney asked me: “How are you?”
I answered with a fake positivity: “I am good. How was your Bible study?”
She told all the good things she learned at Bible study. I listened as attentively as I could but it was hard to focus because so many thoughts were in my head.
(God was determined to catch my attention)
The more she was talking about God’s Will for us, his children, I was getting angrier and angrier.
Then somehow we started talking about how I was feeling because I said: “It’s all so spiritual for me and abstract. I don’t hear His voice for His Will for my life.”
She graciously tried to explain to me how she differentiates God’s voice in her mind but I was so rebellious.
I don’t think I wanted to know how to do it.
The conversation went on, and she said: “Maybe you need to revisit your motives for why you want to start a business because even things that are done for the right reasons can be wrong and take us away from God. You should pray about it and bring your business as an offering to God”
Those words just pierced me in the heart and not in a good way. I understood she was right and true and I didn’t like it.
I was doing it all by myself and focusing on it more than on God.
Finally, I broke down and couldn’t rebel anymore because it was so heavy.
I had to let go, give it to God, and let Him decide what He wants me to do.
Next Morning,
I felt so peaceful and relieved like never before. It was like a breath of fresh air.
But I still had the desire to build a business (thank God) but my focus shifted back to the One Who created me.
Why do I share this with you?
Because I want to show you that having God, your Heavenly Father, by your side, Someone who is beyond you and loves you and who you can rely on, is infinitely calming and hopeful.
When I surrender my life to Him and trust Him, I become so peaceful that I cannot explain how and why.
Everything in my life can be chaotic but when I am focusing my gaze on Jesus, I have overwhelming peace.
It’s so worth sharing because God is so glorious, so loving, and so awesome.
I wish you could feel what I feel writing this. I hope you do.
I realized that’s how God works: He uses these situations and shapes my heart to be more like His and brings me always back to Himself.
I am truly grateful for that.
I hope this story stirred something in your heart as well.
See you soon, my friend.
